- Recorded in A Battle-door for Teachers and Professors to Learn Singular and Plural (1660) by the Englishman George Fox (1624-1691), one of the first Quakers and a prominent dissenter. The book attempted to justify the Quakers' use of thou in speech, by citing other languages which make the distinction between singular and plural you.
