Original SWF Translation
1 Ni venja pea a munna seer
ez boaze whele es car thurt an Tir

ni veea plaises me ore gwir
Nei 'venja pe an mona sur
eus [ow] poas hwilys 'kerdh dhort an tir
ke via a vledhen 'vedh mar hir
nei 'via plesys, my 'wor gwir
We would pay the money sure
that is being sought far from the land
though it would be the year that will be so long
we would be pleased I know true
2 Ma Leeas peege etha dirria pel
buz peea dua e veean gwel
ni veea preeze da rag an stean
ha rag an Hearn thurt Willie Mean
'Ma lies [ow] peji ev dhe durya pell
bus 'pia diwedh ev 'via gwell
nei 'via pris da rag an sten
ha rag an hern dhort Willy Men
There are many praying that he lasts long
but would there be an end it would be better
we would have a good price for the tin
and for the pilchards from Willy Men
3 Buz lebben preze ewe rag gweel dua

ha an gwella ewe nakeves
Bes lebmyn pres yw rag gwul diwedh
ha klappya furra hwath rag truedh
rag lies muskognedh 'ma leverys
ha an gwella yw nakevys
But now it is time to make an end
and talk more wisely still for pity
for many a madness there is said
and the best is forgotten

The vicar of ours there is in St Just
Let him be like Christ's apostle
as far as he can reach
and then God he will [...] him

And we the people all should do
that which he says to us on Sunday
and give our best ears to him
we ought not put all to loss
7 Lebben Dewe reffa gun Sowia ul

Now may God save us all
then no man goes to loss
The land of Heaven there we will be along
if we do good in the world.

Notes

Jenner comments: "A song of moral advice [...] beginning "Ni venja pea a munna seer," and consisting of seven four-lined stanzas, only one of which, beginning "An Prounter ni ez en Plew East," has been printed (from the Borlase MS.) in the Journal of the Royal Institution of Cornwall for 1866. The complete song is in the Gwavas MS., and has never been published." (Handbook)
